Here to Help on the Journey
On this wild planet we are all in together, we find all manner of experiences. Love, Kindness, Hate, Compassion, Trauma, Loss, Magic; you get the drift. When we encounter pain, betrayal, and loss, one of the most important factors is the level of support we can receive. This support could potentially mean the difference between an event reaching the neurobiological definition of trauma, or not. (Trauma: a life event, whose magnitude supersedes our resources to process it at the time; put simply). Reaching out to caring, empathic friends and family members is often just the ticket; and sometimes we also require therapy to process the events in our lives.
I am passionate about assisting, where I can, to help heal the impact of trauma in our lives and on the planet. I work from a belief of a collective bond between all of us, and if we can just do a little at a time then we can make deliberate progress between us all. I have experience in working with adolescents and adults, and am trained in using a trauma informed approach for treating a myriad of problems people face. EMDR, Ego State Therapy, Hypnosis, Mindful Somatic Resourcing, Animal Assisted Therapy, and supportive talk therapy are elements in my toolkit.
My Career began with internships and volunteering in women's crisis shelters, as well as sexual assault resource and counseling. I moved to North Dakota and worked with troubled teenagers in an amazing residential facility on the plains, where we were able to offer animal assisted interventions and multiple group and experiential activities. After five years, I moved to the medical terrain in California and have since been working in rural clinics as a psychotherapist, behavioral health specialist, and supervisor for the past ten years. I continue my education every day, and see every client as an opportunity to share and learn mutually. I see healing in terms of micro and macrocosms. If we can continue to approach understanding, one by one, we are more able to defeat the polarities that continue to form more trauma in the larger worlds around us.
There are hundreds of skilled and resourced helpers, and finding the right therapist can be a journey all on its on. Please do not hesitate to contact for a consultation to see if we may be a good fit.
